What’s Cooking Grandma?
Celebrating Grandmothers Cooking

“Wouldn’t it be great to be able to cook like your Grandma - we should make a recipe book of grandmothers special recipes.”

That’s how it all started… the thing is you can’t really write a grandmother’s recipe down.  A pinch of this, a handful of that… so we set out to build a video cookbook of grandmothers cooking their special recipes.  It’s only in a video that you get the real feel of a grandmother cooking.

The project started in 2006 in Lancaster England supported by Folly and Fast UK for the exhbition Perimeters, Boundaries and Borders. Since then we’ve been growing, collecting and sharing recipes from Grandmas across the world. Grandma may be the star of the family, now she’s the star of the web.

By uploading your own recipes we want you to help us build a resource of thousands of years of cooking experience we can share across generations.  Sharing not only the recipes but the know how.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed, everyone who has given us publicity and everyone who has helped us keep the site going.  If you’d like to know more you can listen to us and Nanna Ruth on Womans Hour.
